Dear Mesa/Boogie,
The Lone Star! It certainly stands alone that's for sure. I wasn’t prepared for how vast of a tone machine the Lone Star really is. I think I lulled myself into believing that this amp was designed primarily for single coil instruments. I was way off the mark with that assumption. It does do single sounds better than any amp I've owned but when I put it to the test with my Les Paul it went into a territory I didn't expect. This amp is very capable of copping some high gain aggressive tones.
Channel one delivers a tone I've had in my head for a long time, so transparent and sparkling. It’s off the charts! Channel two covers the realm of slight breakup to stratospheric high gain bliss depending on your weapon of choice, single coils or humbuckers.
It does so many things and all very convincingly. I can’t understand how any guitarist can be without this tone machine. The reverb is the best ever, hands down. Sparkles like champagne. I’m absolutely blown away by this amp. I knew it was a great amp but it exceeded my expectations.
Is this the Mesa/Boogie flagship? If it’s not you could have fooled me. It seems that you guys have really raised the bar here. Can’t imagine how you can follow an act like the Lone Star.
I’ve used Mesa/Boogie amps exclusively for 27 years and one of the things that impresses me the most is that after all that Randall Smith has accomplished, he still has the desire to create great new amps. I feel you are crafting your best amps now. I cant thank you enough for the customer service I have received from you guys over the years. Service after the sale, it’s a dinosaur in today's world but you guys deliver in a huge way. Please keep doing what you are doing - It suits you!
