Dear Mesa,
I have a SERIOUS customer complaint! I purchased a brand new Roadster from music shop called Sound Control in Leeds, UK. The salesman’s name was Tom Allen.
In the last 2 years, I have purchased over (approx) $16000 in this store. Tom has managed to sell me Gibson Les Paul (x2), Ibanez guitars, Fender Strat, Marshall Cabs, Marshall Power Amps, Line 6 (various), Jim Dunlop Wahs – you get the picture. Anyway, Tom has become a trusted individual due to the amount of time that I have spent in the store and the amount musical gear he has sold me.
Tom has always pushed me heavily towards Mesa Boogie. He personally owns a Road King and over the past few years he has made my ears bleed talking about Boogies and how good they are.
Being quite a careful person with my money, I have always been VERY reluctant to buy a Mesa Boogie due to the price tag. A couple of weeks ago however, I finally broke, and I ordered a Roadster and a 2x12 cab from Tom.
I picked up both pieces of equipment two days ago from the store after waiting a few weeks for them to arrive. Tom set up the amp to what he thought my requirements were and I took it straight to my band practice to put it through its paces.
On arriving at the rehearsal studio, I plugged in, tuned up, and played. My band mates and I were gob smacked! We could not believe quite how good the tone being generated from the Roadster was. Quite frankly, it was probably the most awesome noise I have ever heard. My socks were completely blown off, along with the rest of my underwear.
I was grinning and laughing like a maniac for the entirety of my practice and I could not believe what a good purchase I had made. Quite frankly, this is the BEST amp I have ever had the pleasure of playing.
THIS IS THE COMPLAINT.
On returning from my band practice, I managed to speak non stop to my wife for two hours about all the virtues of the amazing amp I had purchased. She is not a guitarist, so she was bored silly listening to me talking in great detail about how brilliant this ‘lump of leather and wood’ sounded.
I subsequently called in sick to work the next day so I could spend some quality time (12 hours solid) with the new arrival to the family. I then managed to again bore the behind off my wife on her return from work, talking non stop about all the tones I had managed to get from the Roadster and how it was money well spent.
Anyway to cut a long story short, I now blame Mesa Boogie for building the most perfect amp that I have ever wanted! This will probably result in a divorce (due to wife neglect) and me losing my job (due to career neglect) and it is entirely your fault! Damn you for being the Kings of Tone!
SERIOUSLY: I am one happy customer and I am a Boogie convert for life. The Roadster is the Holy Grail of tone, and I will never need another amp again!
