Dear Mesa/Boogie,
I had owned a Marshall JCM2000 DSL 50 for about 6 months and there was just something wrong. I could never seem to dial in the right sound. The clean channel sounded reasonably good and with some guitars the distortion channel didn’t sound too bad.
The issue was my Strat… My lovely wife gave me a Custom Shop Wildwood 10 Strat for Christmas and I adored it from the second I opened the case. It sounded rather good through the clean channel with a bit of break up, but once I hit the gain the sound fell apart. I was about to have a new pick up installed in it and was doing a lot of research, but was still feeling hesitant to touch this amazing guitar. I even went as far as bringing the Marshall home with me so I could spend an afternoon playing with the settings to see if I could dial it in, but no luck.

This past weekend I happened to be at the Guitar Center in San Francisco and was looking at a Mesa/Boogie Roadster. I was hesitant to really look at it because how could one amp really have 4 usable channels? I had owned a Mesa Lone Star and ended up parting with it because it just didn't have the range I was looking for from the distortion channel. But I settled down to try it out with a few guitars and I really liked what I was hearing. However, being the Guitar Center, it was really loud so I didn't really get to hear it.
In a moment of “spending frenzy”, I took the Roadster and a Recto 2x12 cab home with me. Once home I really got a chance to listen to the amp and it is without a doubt the finest amp I have ever played. All 4 channels are really their own amp. I played for hours on end and that was just with all the settings at 12:00!
The construction is flawless and the fit and finish ranks among the best I've seen - Even the packaging is top notch. The price of the amp is more than reasonable for a product of this calibre.
I've never written a company before to complement a product but I felt compelled to do so with this amp. It is hands down the finest amp on the market today and a shining example of the quality of American made products.
The Marshall is now on EBay.
The Strat is still all-original(and sounds great on every channel!).
Thank you,
Paul Zoskey
